The 2023 Labour Code amendment (§78a) grants teleworking employees the right not to use work tools or communicate outside daily and weekly rest periods. Employers must document telework arrangements specifying availability windows. The State Labour Inspection Office (SÚIP) enforces. Eleven-hour daily rest is mandatory.
SÚIP (Státní úřad inspekce práce) fines apply for labour-law violations including working-time recording failures. Specific quantum published as up to CZK 2,000,000 (~€80,000) per inspection finding for serious violations.
Employers in Czech Republic face material wage and overtime liability where the quality of time records determines whether a defence holds. An editable log can be challenged. A hardware-signed, employer-unalterable audit chain cannot.
